Foam-Cure is a silicone-based adhesive specifically formulated for excellent performance on EPP and EPO foams. It exhibits crystal-clear properties and cures to a more flexible consistency compared to CA (cyanoacrylate) adhesives. While it doesn’t provide instantaneous bonding like CA, Foam-Cure lacks an accelerator to expedite its curing process.
To achieve a quicker initial bond when joining two pieces, apply Foam-Cure to one piece, join the parts, and then separate them. After allowing approximately ten minutes for air drying, Foam-Cure transforms into a contact cement-like substance upon rejoining the parts, offering sufficient tack strength for subsequent assembly steps. Full strength is attained within 10-12 hours.
Foam-Cure is versatile, compatible with all foam types, and capable of bonding various materials, including wood and plastic to foam. It serves as an effective canopy glue. However, it’s important to note that Foam-Cure does not cure flexibly enough to serve as a hinge for aircraft control surfaces. Limitations arise when bonding large areas of two non-porous materials. Proper drying necessitates exposure to air.
In scenarios where drying might be hindered, such as bonding non-porous materials like glass to a coin, over 90% of the adhesive would remain uncured, as the solvent lacks an escape route. To address this, a small amount of denatured alcohol can be mixed into Foam-Cure to enhance its fluidity.
USES
Works Best On:
- EPP Foam
- EOP Foam
- Clear Canopy
- Paper and Crafts
DIRECTIONS
Cut off tip of nozzle. Apply to one part before joining. Use tape to hold parts in place during cure. For faster curing, pull the joint apart and let Foam-Cure air dry for 5-10 min before rejoining the parts. This results in enough tack strength to allow the next steps of assembly. Full cure takes 10-12 hours. Foam-Cure works on all foams, especially on EPP and EPO, and will bond a porous surface to non-porous materials. Foam-Cure is also an excellent glue for clear canopies, and will also bond paper. If needed, denatured alcohol can be used to thin or clean up uncured Foam-Cure. Replace cap after use.
